Special General Meeting  - Agenda is to change the Harrow Cine and Video Society’s name to Harrow Film Makers in line with the proposal made at the AGM.
Followed by:
A Series of Alan Atkinson’s Diamond, Gold, Silver and other Medal winning films  - don't miss these.
Note the SGM will start at 7:30 pm. If you are unable to come please send an email to the secretary with your voting decision.

Club Film Premiere

The Premiere of 'Where there's a Will', a club production produced by Judy Long & directed by Brian Heard. The production team will be present to answer questions about the making of this film after the viewing. Time permitting there maybe some 'behind the scenes' film to see too!

Dave is one of our most experienced 'gold' category members.  This will be a hands on evening with club members interviewing and filming each other. Cameras and microphoness will be provided.

Chairman's Shield Competition - Open Category

The film can be in any aspect ratio in miniDV, DVD or Blu-ray, and must not have been entered previously in the Chairman’s Shield competitions. Adjudication will be by ballot of members present on special voting forms to be distributed by before the start of the meeting.  Competitors are divided into two classes. “The Ins and Outs of Editing” with John Luton

John entered the film industry with Warner Bros, in their London office.  He moved to the technical side as an assistant film editor, later becoming editor. John has edited feature films and over one thousand commercials for top UK production companies including many London/New York/Venice/Cannes award winners.

Aivar is one our long standing club filmmakers who cut his teeth on real film before moving to video. He still has a passion for 'cine' and tops up the club's coffers by the sale of donated equipment and films as can be viewed on our Film & Cine Sales page

Pinner Plate Competition

Annual competition between Harrow Cine & Video Society and Potters Bar Cine & Video Society. Each Club presents a programme of films up to a maximum 40 minutes. The winner is the Club which, in the Judge's opinion, puts on the better programme.

Green Screen & Video Making

Tommy Kovacs & Judy Long will explain the process of using CSO (Colour Separation Overlay) also known as the 'green screen'. This is where people are filmed against a 'green' background which is then used to switch in an alternative picture source. This evening there will be a 'hands-on' demonstration of the whole process.

The production of  'The Killing of John Lennon' by Producer Rakha Singh

Rakha produced 'The Killing of John Lennon' an independent feature film, privately financed, which has had theatrical releases in the UK and USA. The film is currently out on DVD and was recently shown on Sky Movies. It won a special Jury prize at the Tribecca Film Festival and was nominated for a BAFTA.


Rakha is Chief Executive of Hara Media Ltd, a Production Company, producing Feature films, TV Drama/Factual programmes, Commercials, Music Videos and Animation.

Dave Smith is organising a 'hands-on' evening at the Club. The first part will be taking film of people arriving/leaving the Club. The second part will be  live editing sessions when the film taken in the first part of the evening is edited on member's laptops. Bring your Cameras/Laptops with you. NB Only applicable to cameras that record on SD Memory cards.
